WHEN SOLDIERS SING
There are several ballads, folk songs and so-called Russian Romances which cover topics of brave men
dramatic love scenes, friend- and comradeship, the seasons and war tragedies.
These have been sung until today but only few people know where these songs originate
from and about who and what they are.
This collection is an ode to my family, my origins and to those brave men and women who risked
their lives many years ago and gave us their poems and songs which helped them survive.
Each look represents a ballad like "Zhuravli" (Cranes), "Tyomnaya Notch" (Dark is the night)
"Moya Lyubimaya" (My Beloved) and "When the soldiers sing, the children calmly sleep" (Kogda poyut soldatiy).
In memory of all the evenings with my mother and her guitar.
